A loan of $1,175 helped to buy a cooler.

Heriberto's story

Heriberto, 36, lives in the municipality of Puerto Colombia, a spot located on the shores of the Caribbean, that’s visited by tourists on weekends to rest and enjoy the beaches. Heriberto opened a snack bar six years ago taking advantage of the fact that his house is across from a soccer field. His sales increase on weekends with all the teams practicing across from his business. He sells beer, soft-drinks, fruit juices and packaged snacks. He also has another business selling varied merchandise that his wife helps him with.

Heriberto is a young entrepreneur who is always exploring new business opportunities. He recently partnered with a friend and is in the low to medium price mobile phone sales business. He also invested in two motorcycles that he has working providing transport in the town that produce a daily rental fee for him.

He’s currently applying for a Kiva loan, first financing from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, because he wants to buy a cooler to be able to offer beverages at their coldest possible; he will also buy cases of beer and soft-drinks so that every weekend will be an opportunity to generate income by satisfying his customers and he can plan for his family’s future growth.
