A loan of $450 helped to buy an unbrella and more merchandise.

Catalina's story

Catalina is 50 and has two independent children. She sells men's, women's, and children's socks, underwear, and lingerie. Her stand is located on a busy street in the city of La Paz. This is her first loan cycle with the institution. Catalina will use the loan to buy an umbrella and more merchandise for her business and needs the loan because she lacks working capital to make these purchases. She loves the attention she receives from the institution and the way that Kiva operates.

Catalina faces a business challenge: the mayor's office prohibits her from selling during the day, so she can only sell in the evenings. However, that has not discouraged her from providing for her family. She will use the loan to buy more children's socks since the upcoming national holidays and student parades will increase demand. Her only wish is that her children thrive and are healthy.
