A loan of $4,225 helped a member to buy needed salon equipment.

Makoka Group's story

Gelardina, who is in her early 30s, is single, with one child who still goes to school. She has been running a beauty salon for five years now. She works from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily and is able to make a good monthly profit.

This will be her fourth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to buy needed salon equipment and pay school fees. She has paid back all her loans successfully. She hopes for a loan to buy more needed salon equipment. Her dream is to be able to widely expand her beauty salon one day.

She will share this loan with her loan group, Makoka, which has a total of 15 members, who will hold each other accountable for paying back their loans.
