Meng B. K. is 35 years old making a decent living as a carpenter in the city of Siem Reap. He has worked there since 1999 becoming more and more skilled at his trade. He can now make 6 US$ per day with his carpentry business. His wife works for a weaving business, weaving cloth for traditional Khmer clothing. She earns 5 US$ each day. They have three young children living in the family home, along with her younger sister who is dependent on them.

He wants to facilitate his sister in law being able to work and add to the family income as well as obtain personal transportation to and from work for him and his wife. He wants to invest in a motorbike to provide for these needs. His wife is pictured here outside their home as he was unavailable when our loan officers visited. The motorbike in the picture belongs to a loan officer, not the family.
