Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $775 helped to buy televisions, amplifiers, bulbs, fans, etc.

Roufai's story

Roufai is 24 years old and the father of a young child, aged 3. His wife is a retailer. He has also been a retailer by trade for three years. He sells televisions, amplifiers, and all sorts of tech accessories. Roufai has need of starting capital to be able to ensure his sales. This is why he is now taking on a second loan with the microfinance institution WAGES. He intends to use his future profits to reinvest in his enterprise. He hopes to open a second shop later on, but his priority is still to meet his family's needs for health care.
