Sarorn's Group's story

A widow living in a rural village located in the Thmor Koul district of Battambang province, Sarorn is 54 years old and has two children. One daughter is dependent on her and helps in the family’s business. Sarorn is a teacher in the local area and she is also a rice farmer. She has been in this business for thirty years, earning about 12,300KHR but is able to save about 4,000KHR each day.

Sarorn’s group consists of four members who are all female. She and other two members have been with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, for six loan cycles while the other is just with VisionFund this loan cycle. The past loans have helped her improve her livelihood. She is now leading her group to apply for a loan. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy some materials to build a kitchen and also use a portion of it to buy wooden board to build house wall. She hopes this loan will enable her to complete her house’s wall and kitchen for a better living.
