A loan of $475 helped to buy pea seeds and organic fertilizer.

Juana's story

Juana is 46 years old. She has three children, but now only lives with two of them.

Thanks to her efforts, she managed to raise and educate her children on her own, and continues to do so. Farming is her main livelihood. She has been doing it for 20 years. She began by growing potatoes, peas and corn. In all those years she learned about the climate, and the diseases that attack her crops, and now knows how to confront them.

In the freedom of the countryside, she also takes on the responsibility of raising rams, horses, cows and pigs, that she sells after fattening them. And despite having several responsibilities, she has the time available to look after her crops, her animals and her family.

This is her 11th loan with MFP, and she gives her word that she will make the installment payments on time. Moreover, she feels happy to belong to the “Lindo Amanecer de Cumutay,” communal bank.

Juana will earmark 1200 soles for the purchase of a bag of pea seeds, and with the remainder she will buy organic fertilizer.
