A loan of $400 helped to buy two bags of pea seeds.

Yolanda's story

Yolanda is 46 years old. She is separated from the father of her son, who is now an adult and has his own family. Now Yolanda lives alone in the house that she built with her family's support.

Her partner left her 20 years ago. Since then, she has taken responsibility for looking after and educating her son, by growing potatoes, peas, corn and flowers. “All the products are profitable if you know how to look after them properly and if you know how to sell them," she says. For example, she says that these months are favorable for planting peas; in January and February, potatoes; and in May and November, flowers.

This way she will make the very best use of her land to earn the money she needs. She also raises cows, from which she obtains milk. She has a beehive and produces honey. In this way, Yolanda works in the freedom of the countryside, happy with her accomplishments.

This is her first loan with MFP and she is grateful for the opportunity they are offering her. She has just become a member of the “Lindo Amanecer de Cumutay” communal bank, and promises she will be responsible with her payments and with the meetings.

She will use the 1000 soles she is now applying for to purchase two bags of pea seeds.
