Shahnaz's story

Shahnaz is a 45-year-old woman. She is an internally displaced person (IDP) who lives with her family in an IDP settlement. She is married and has three daughters. She raises seasonal fruits and vegetables such as pomegranates, queen-apples, pears, and cherries. In the summer she raises fruits and in the autumn and winter she raises vegetables such as potatoes, pumpkins, and carrots.

Shahnaz's monthly income is 150 AZN. She usually sells her crops to the local market vendors. People use fresh vegetables every day and consider them healthy. Many national dishes, like pilau and dolma, are made with vegetables. Fresh fruits are served on every Azerbaijani family's table and also used to make fresh punch. Shahnaz's daughters help her a lot in raising her crops.

Shahnaz applied for a loan of 1500 AZN to buy more seeds and fertilizers. This will be her fourth loan and she has a good client history.
