Sothea lives in a wooden house with her husband and one dependent daughter who is a student, in a rural village of the Ponhea Krek district of Kampong Cham province. Sothea is 29 years old and earns a living with her husband as rice farmers. In addition to her farmland, she leases a plot of farmland to increase her farming activity. She has been in this business for five years, earning about 16,700 KHR per day to meet basic family's needs and she is able to save about 6,700 KHR each day for the future.

This is the first loan for Sothea with Kiva's partner, VisionFund. Now requesting a loan of 1,800,000 KHR, she is going to use this loan to buy fertilizers for her farmland and cassava seedlings to plant as an additional source of income. This loan will enable her family to have another source of income and she hopes to increase her family's earning in order to set aside some money to buy a plot of land to extend her farmland and to build a decent house to live in.
