A loan of $575 helped to buy a new van for her food stall and, if the money stretches far enough, some bags of sugar and bottles of oil.

Jakeline's story

Jakeline is 23 years old and married to Misael. They have two children, and she loves them very much. For a year now they have lived in Jakeline’s grandmother’s house.

When Jakeline moved into her new home she started to think about selling food, since the area is very busy. Consequently, she began saving up to buy a van. She now sells breakfast and various kinds of drinks (made from oats, apples, soya etc.) every morning from the doorway of her home. Of an afternoon she sells hamburgers with fries and coffee. She has worked hard since she started and has been successful so far. For this reason she is keen to buy more supplies. “The basic goods I use are oil, potatoes and sugar. I have to buy them in bulk to reduce costs”, she says.

This is her second loan with MFP. She is very grateful for the financial help she is receiving. It allows her to improve her business and learn to save money with her community bank, whose members are all responsible and supportive people.

Jakeline will invest this money in a new van and, if the money stretches far enough, she will also buy some bags of sugar and bottles of oil.
