A loan of $500 helped a member to pay for weeding costs.

Ten's Group's story

A rural villager from Dambae district of Kampong Cham province, Ten is a 28-year-old father of one dependent son. He and his wife make a living via rice farming on one hectare of farmland and cassava planting on two hectares of land. For 10 years involved in this business, he can earn about 29,000 KHR on average per day. For him, the declining price of cassava is the main challenge. Ten took his first loan with VisionFund in 2011 and completely paid it back. The past loan has made a good progress of his living conditions and maintained his business progressively. Now, he joins a group of two members to seek a new loan with VisionFund, Kiva's partner. He will use his portion in the amount of 1,000,000 KHR, which is the same amount as his co-member, to pay for weeding for his cassava field. He expects to gain more crop yield so as to better his family's living conditions.
