A loan of $1,500 helped to buy shrimp, prawns, and spare parts.

Johanna Margarita's story

Every 15 days, the Banco Comunal 1 de Diciembre meets in the San Clemente del Cantón Sucre beach resort. This location is known for its beautiful beaches, which are often visited by many domestic and foreign tourists. It offers a diversity of beautiful places and a rich variety of typical regional dishes.

Johana lives in this location. She is 31 years old; she is married and has three children, who are 11, 9, and 6 years old. Her eldest child studies in high school, and her younger children are in primary school. Her husband is a businessman. She has spent more than 7 years in the Banco Comunal, and she likes it because the loans are distributed more rapidly and without many requirements.

She is taking out this loan to use for her business, which she has with her husband. The business buys and sells shrimp and prawns. Her husband buys the products in the launches and boats, and later brings them in his car to the packers that send the products to foreigners. They have spent more than 8 years in the business of selling prawns. They also have a bus in a transportation cooperative that has routes through Portoviejo. The autobus drives one person to whom they pay a monthly wage.

This loan is going to be used to buy shrimp, prawns, and spare parts for the autobus.

Her dream is to continue this business with her husband.
