A loan of $400 helped to buy five bags of fertilizer (with 700 PEN), the other 300 PEN will be used to hire workers to clear the croplands.

Yesica's story

Yesica, 19, and her partner Vinath have a one-month-old son. They live in a rustic house which is their own, located in the native community of the central forest.

She has been in agriculture since she was very young, and with the help of her partner has been able to carry out hard work on her land, such as clearing the fields, sowing the crops and taking care of maintenance. Now she has two patches of land where she produces coffee, annatto and bananas. She says she is happy with her work because of the money she earns for her great efforts. "At harvest time we take the produce to the city where people buy it wholesale, because that is what is most convenient for me.", she says. Her main problems are lack of workers and lack of fertilizer, because she does not have the capital.

This is her first loan through MFP and she is content about the confidence shown in her. She is committed to paying back the loan on time. She belongs to the recently formed communal bank "Nueva Jerusalén".

This money will be used to buy five bags of fertilizer (with 700 PEN); while the remaining 300 PEN will be used to hire workers to clear the cropland.
