A loan of $1,150 helped to buy 15 bags of fertilizer and papaya seeds.

Clever's story

Clever is 23 years old. He is a young man who is economically independent and lives in his aunt’s house. He helps her out and pays his own way.

He left his parent’s house when he was 19 years old, and he has lived with his aunt, who he loves very much, ever since. Thanks to her, he has several parcels of land where he cultivates citrus fruits such as oranges, tangerines, and others. He also produces annatto, which is very sought after by buyers to make condiments and natural colorings. He explains that the sales of annatto were very good this year, but his citrus sales weren’t so good. “Last month the price for a basket of oranges was at PEN 5.00 (nuevos soles), but in March it went as high as PEN 10.00 or 12.00,” he says. In spite of this, he works hard all year long. His plans are to acquire more farm land to increase his production of annatto and also to start planting papayas.

This is his third loan with Microfinanzas Prisma. He promises to be responsible with his monthly repayments. He belongs to the “Flor de Almendra” communal bank, where he feels happy because, thanks to the savings, he is able to finish his projects.

He will use the money is he is requesting to buy 15 bags of fertilizer. He will use the remainder to buy papaya seeds.
