A loan of $400 helped to pay for clearing out weeds on his land.

Nehemias's story

Nehemías, 32, and his partner Elizabeth have four children, ages 14, 13, 11 and 7. They live in a house they built in the native community of the central forest.

He has been involved in agriculture for 20 years, and learned the trade when he was very young in order to cover his children's expenses. That is how he began growing coffee, bananas and corn.

He is very hard-working and thanks to his efforts has been able to acquire 10 patches of cropland, but he only uses six right now. He has many plans in mind, such as sowing new crops (yucca plant and citrus fruits), as well as increasing his coffee production. "I could plant on more land but sometimes I run out of money to invest.", he mentions since this is one of his main difficulties in the business. But thanks to his experience he knows how to distribute his money in order to buy fertilizer, seeds and to pay hired workers. Now he will take care to clean his cropland, which he must do every three months.

This is his first loan through MFP, so he is very committed to paying it back on time. He has joined the communal bank "Nueva Jerusalén" and says he will put much effort into his activity.

Nehemías will use this loan to pay for clearing weeds off his land, since it is covered with them.
