A loan of $1,000 helped a member to buy fertilizers for her farmland.

Chhim's Group's story

Living in a rural area located in the Sa Ang district, Chhim is 47 years old and married with eight children, five of whom are dependents and in still school. The main sources of family's income are from rice farming and a ginger plantation. She and her husband have been in this business for several years earning about 14,200KHR per day to feed the children. This is group loan for Chhim with Kiva's partner, VisionFund. She has been with VisionFund for two cycles and successfully paid back the loans. After the successful loans that have relieved her family's financial burden, she is leading another four members to apply for a loan of 1,000,000KHR each. She is going to use her portion to buy fertilizers for her farmland and use a portion of it to spend for gasoline to carry water into her farmland. She hopes this loan will enable her to increase her business and earn a larger income so as to better her family's living condition.
