Agnes's story

Agnes is 46-years old and lives in the town of Kireka in the Kampala Region of Uganda. She is married and has three children. For the past 20 years, Agnes has been working hard to manage her food stall, where she sells bananas, spices and other foods.

To help expand her business, Agnes has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more stock like beans and vegetables to sell, and will help Agnes to generate greater profits that will help her reach her goal of starting up a charcoal business in the future.

Agnes is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Agnes who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
