A loan of $850 helped a member to buy fertilizers for her farmland.

Mom's Group's story

Mom is 30 years old and married. She lives with her husband and two children, one son and one daughter, both of whom are living at home and still in school in a rural village located in the Kror kor district, Cambodia.

She has been in rice farming on two hectares of farmland for 11 years and supplements the family’s income by raising chickens, while her husband is a paid worker in a local area. Low crop yield is the main challenge for her business.

This is the fourth loan for Mom’s group with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. Her group consists of three members. The past loans have helped her relieve the family’s burden and improve their livelihood.

She and her group members are applying for a new loan. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizers for her farmland. She hopes this loan will enable her to earn a better income, which will improve their standard of living and keep her children in school.
