A loan of $500 helped a member to buy fertilizer for his rice field and materials for making baskets.

Khorn's Group's story

Khorn, 32, is one of the breadwinners of a family with dependent children: a daughter and three sons. All of his children are still in school. He and his wife have struggled in supporting the big household via growing paddy rice on one hectare of farmland. Besides this primary source of income, Khorn also makes bamboo baskets for extra income. Having been in these businesses for eight years, he can earn about 18,000 KHR per day. Khorn's group consists of two members; they have been with VisionFund for seven cycles and have successfully paid back the loans. The past loans have made Khorn run both his businesses properly and have relieved his family's burden. Now he and his fellow group member are seeking a new loan. As the leader, Khorn will use his portion to buy 5 sacks of fertilizer for his rice field and a portion of it to buy more bamboo in order to make more baskets for sale. He hopes to double his income, so he can set aside some money to buy a plot of land to expand his rice farming business.
