Nestor, aged 36, is married with two children and lives at Mitugas, Tudela. He has been operating a business which involves raising crops, and planting and harvesting bananas and coconuts for sale in the local community to earn a living for the past 12 years. Each month, he earns 7,900 PHP from this type of business.
Nestor has requested a loan of 10,000 PHP to purchase fertilizers. This year, he joined GDMPC. In the future, Nestor wants to save a reserve for future emergencies and to purchase more farmland.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
