A loan of $1,150 helped to buy bags of fertilizer for his banana and citrus crops and pay laborers to weed his fields.

Danyoon's story

Danyoon is 28 years old and single, however he has a 6 year-old son. He lives alone in a rustic house that he built near his fields in an indigenous community in the central forest. He is a happy and charismatic young man who has supported himself since he was 20 years old by cultivating the lands his family gave him. There he produces citrus (oranges, mandarins, limes) and bananas. He is doing well. He can earn an income every 15 days from his banana harvests and once a year from his citrus crop. Thanks to his skill, he sells his products satisfactorily in the fruit market in the city. Aside from farming, Danyoon has a pastime that he also considers a job: music. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday he spends time, in the afternoons, playing and being paid, by the day. He intends to work at these two jobs because each one brings him a distinct satisfaction. This is his third loan from MFP and he states that he will be punctual in his payments as in previous loans. With regard to his communal bank , “Nuevo Amanecer de Huacamayo”, he says that he enjoys the educational meetings because he learns something new every time. With money from this loan, he will buy bags of fertilizer for his banana and citrus plants and he will pay the laborers who will clear weeds from his crops.
