A loan of $575 helped to pay for teacher education courses.

Rosario Zelmira's story

Rosario is a young woman of 26. She lives in Ica, a city noted for its warm and inviting climate. Also, one can enjoy tourist attractions such as Huacachina Lake, which is located in the middle of amazing dunes, where adventure sports such as sand-boarding are practiced. As well, farming is carried on, especially the cultivation of grapes, asparagus, lima beans, beans and other crops.

When she has free time, she really likes to play sports: especially volleyball with her friends and neighbors. As well, she likes to enjoy one of her favorite dishes, which is the very delicious “arroz con pollo” (Peruvian-style rice with chicken).

Rosario works day to day as a teacher in a primary school in her city. She teaches the computer course. She works around eight hours a day, and this way is able to contribute toward the household expenses.

She believes she is doing well in her job because she she has a great deal of patience with the children, and above all because she is responsible and punctual.

Rosario is very grateful to the Kiva lenders, because thanks to the help they have provided, she will be able to pay for her teacher education course.

She needs to continue specializing in order to be considered for a better position in the future. This way she will be able to have better knowledge and above all keep studying and working in order to realize her greatest dream: To have her own home and to be a better teacher.
