A loan of $875 helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farmland.

Earb's Group's story

A citizen from a rural village located in the Kror Kor district of Pursat province, Cambodia, Earb is 54 years old. She is married and has seven children, two are daughters who are still dependent on her as they are still in school. She has been in the rice farming and pig-raising business for almost twenty years. The current businesses earn her about 10,000 KHR and she manages to save about 4,000 KHR per day after daily expenses.

The main challenge for her is the low crop yield caused by drought. To overcome this challenge, she is leading her group consisting of three members to apply for a loan with VisionFund, Kiva’s partner. She is in her fourth loan cycle and she successfully repaid the past loans, which have enabled her to better support her family and the current businesses.

Earb is going to use her portion of the loan to buy fertilizer for her farmland and use part of it to buy pig feed. She hopes to make more income so as to improve her lifestyle.
