A loan of $775 helped to purchase 300 sacks of natural fertilizer to spread on her potato fields.

Teodora's story

Teodora is 50 years old and married to Antonio, with whom she has five children; only one of them lives with them now. She inherited the house where they live in the town of Pueblo Nuevo from her parents 24 years ago.

From the time she was a little girl, she learned how to take care of the land: "I was born, grew up, and will die in the country," she says happily. She has had her own agricultural fields for 30 years. She began independently planting potatoes, olluco, peas, and fava beans in large quantities. Together with her husband, she takes care of the fields, fertilizing them and pulling the weeds that grow between the furrows. She still has the help of her youngest son in the sales: "I take my son so he can count the money and help me negotiate," she says.

Teodora belongs to the solidarity group "Pueblo Nuevo" and this is her third loan with MFP. She feels good working with her communal bank because she receives advice on improving her plantings, since they are all farmers like Teodora. She promises to be punctual with her loan payments, since they are all responsible.

Teodora will invest the requested money in the purchase of 300 sacks of natural fertilizer to spread on her potato fields.
