German Domingo's story

Germán, 45, lives in the city of Nazca with his spouse and their three beloved children. He is a very kind, hardworking and enthusiastic person who focuses all his efforts into moving his family forward. In his free time he likes to read the Bible and sometimes prepares one of his favorite dishes, the delicious “chicharrón de cerdo.” Germán has always been a very enterprising man who has worked since he was very young. He completed secondary school but due to lack of resources was not able to go to university though would have liked to study human medicine.

Thanks to his enthusiasm and support from his family, a few years ago Germán started to grow prickly pears. He works about 10 hours daily. He also works in a small business selling groceries. He feels very good with his business because he’s always enjoyed the countryside and the work done in it.

Germán is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the support provided he will be able to introduce cochineal into his entire prickly pear crop taking advantage of the season and obtaining an abundant growth of cochineal so that when harvest is over he’ll earn good profits from the sales thus leading to Germán being able to gradually attain his great dream which is to see his children become upstanding citizens and good professionals.
