Dashamir is just 23 years old. He's a hard worker and a very bright young man. The staff of VisionFund Albania is very, very happy to help him out.
Dashamir is a talented cobbler. He inherited the skills from his father, who started the business about 18 years back. Nine years later he became ill. Dashamir was 14 at that time, and ever since he has been operating the shoe repair shop all on his own.
He is busy, and he has established a good clientele, thanks to his hard work and personable nature. He is liked by almost everyone in his town of some 10,000 residents.
Dashamir has applied for a Kiva loan through VFA in order to purchase materials he needs for shoe repairing. His later plans include creating a family and expanding his shop.
He is extremely appreciative of Kiva and VisionFund Albania for supporting him in this matter. In particular, Dashamir wants to thank all the Kiva potential lenders for their kindness and generosity.
About VisionFund Albania
VisionFund Albania is a micro-finance subsidiary of child hunger nonprofit World Vision International. Striving to improve child welfare, the organization offers a variety of loan products designed for rural, traditionally underserved clients and their families. These products include agriculture, business and household improvement loans, as well as "integration loans" targeted to help the poorest, most vulnerable Albanian households acquire value chain resources.
While VFA is focused on the empowerment of the poor overall, it pays special attention to women. About 60% of loans to entrepreneurs on Kiva go to women.
