A loan of $500 helped to buy mats, coconuts, brooms and a machine for grinding the coconuts.

Moffat's story

Moffat lives in the Mariakani area of Coast Province, Kenya. She is married and has two children. For the past 2 years, Moffat has owned and operated a retail shop for selling coconuts, a business she started through her personal savings. She also sells goats, mats and brooms. Moffat learned about Milango through friends who invited her to the group. She joined with the aim of accessing credit to improve her business operations. Moffat's main challenges are price fluctuations and inflation. Moffat is applying for a loan of 41,900 Kenya shillings (KES) to buy mats, coconuts, brooms and a machine for grinding the coconuts. The extra income from the loan will be added to her savings to pay off the loan. Moffat's future plan is to expand and have a container where she will sell at wholesale.
