Greetings from Peru! We would like to introduce you to the "La Hermandad" ("The Brotherhood") group.

Arturo is the president of this group, which he established almost 5 years ago. He is married with two sons, and his profession is carpentry, in which he has worked for approximately 20 years. He learned this trade in school, and little by little he has perfected it, becoming one of the best carpenters in the area. This is how he came to set up a small workshop at his house where he does various jobs, such as manufacturing display cabinets, wardrobes, chairs, doors, etc. Thanks to this job, he can support his family and give his children a good education.

This loan will be a great help so that Arturo can expand his workshop with the purchase of new tools. He will also use this opportunity to buy materials like wood and melamine, so that he can complete his pending jobs. He also wants to expand his business in order to improve his work and keep his customers happy. Arturo is grateful for this help and for those who make this loan possible for his communal group.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
