A loan of $775 helped to buy more plants and to buy manure.

Segismunda's story

Segismunda, 56, is married to Eulogio, 60; they have two children she wants to offer better wellbeing to. She is a woman dedicated to agriculture. She has a parcel planted with cocoa beans, coffee and coca leaves. She tries to give her crops the best possible care and gathering cooperatives have been satisfied with the quality of her products because of it. Even so, she strives daily and spends a good amount of time among her plants; she does her work with help from her husband and children. However, during harvest time it’s necessary to hire day laborers to pick the beans more quickly. Her plan for the future is to invest her income in another type of business like opening a grocery store at home.

This is MFP loan #19 and she’s very happy to know that she will be able to rely on this financial help and she’s willing to make her installment payments as scheduled. She will use the 2,000 new soles from this loan to buy more cocoa bean plants to plant in her parcel and will use the rest to buy manure.
