A loan of $1,150 helped to hire day laborers to help her maintain her crops. With the remainder, she will buy manure for fertilizing her plantings.

Mariela's story

Mariela is 37 years old. She lives in the house she bought, together with her husband Carlos, 47, and her two children, who inspire her to continue working hard. Her crops are cacao and coca leaves. Mariela and Carlos have been working their land for 24 years. At harvest times, they hire laborers to carry out the process more rapidly, and to transport their products to the collection centers. She likes what she does; because thanks to it she has been able to acquire more land, so that that she can continue farming and improve her financial situation. This is her 20th loan with MFP. It is more than eight years since she became acquainted with this microfinance institution, so she feels very happy to have this new support. Therefore she is ready to make the scheduled payments on time. With these 3,000 nuevos soles, she will hire day laborers to help her maintain her crops. With the remainder she will buy manure for fertilizing her plantings.
