A loan of $825 helped to buy more essential commodities such as sugar, dry beans and maize flour for resale.

Archangel's story

Archangel is 34 years old and lives in the town of Kasese in the Fort Portal region of Uganda. He is married and has 2 children, one currently in school. For the past 2 years, Archangel has been working hard to manage his retail shop, which sells dry beans, maize flour and sugar.

To help expand his business, Archangel has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings (UGX) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more essential commodities such as sugar, dry beans and maize flour for resale, and will help Archangel to generate greater profits and pay for his children's medical bills. Archangel hopes that, in the future,he will be able to expand the business into a wholesale shop.

Archangel is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP)The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Archangel who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
