A loan of $400 helped to purchase organic manure to spread on her crops.

Ana Maria's story

Ana María is 43 years old, and is married to Saturnino, who is 45 years old. They live in their own house, which they bought with money they worked hard for during their life together.

Ana María is a happy woman who makes a living as a coffee and cacao farmer. She has been farming for 25 years, and knows that the rainy season, when insects affect the crops, is the most challenging part of the growing cycle. She works with her husband and two other day laborers whom they have contracted for help with the weeding and fertilizing of the crops. They sell their produce in the collection centers near their home, and usually receive a decent price for each kilogram of coffee or cacao that they sell to the wholesaler. Ana María hopes to continue farming coffee, since she makes the most money with that crop.

This is her twelfth loan with MFP, and she is grateful for this opportunity to invest in her work and farming operation. Ana María is a responsible member of her local community bank, and enjoys the group meetings and her role in that community. With the 1,000 nuevos soles in this loan, she plans to purchase organic manure to spread on her crops and to help with the growing process.
