Kleber Geovanny's story

Kleber is a single man, 21 years old, who lives in Quinindé, in Esmeraldas Province. Quinindé is a small town located on the Ecuadorean coast. The weather in Qinindé is tropical and rainy and there are two seasons: dry and rainy. Initially Quinindé was only accessible through waterways and by rivers. Recently, at the end of the 1970’s, a highway was built that connected Quito and Esmeraldas, which passes through Quinindé. The town of Quinindé is sustained principally through farming and livestock raising.

Kleber lives in this small place. He only finished secondary school and then went immediately to work in his business which he started a little over 5 years ago. He has a small mechanic’s shop and is requesting his first loan. Generally Kleber works afternoons and all day during the weekends. Now the time has come for him to enlarge his capacity, which would bring in greater earnings. Kleber is requesting this loan to purchase spare parts and to use the money as working capital.
