A loan of $250 helped to buy manure and to clear weeds from the fields.

Felix's story

Félix, 64, has been growing coffee for more than 35 years. Along with his four children he’s made this into a family business and has been able to get ahead through the years. The coffee they used to produce was conventional but as time has gone by they’ve managed to convert the entire production to organic coffee, that is to say, no chemical fertilizers are used in their farm. Their previous harvest was 8 tons and he is planning on reaching 10 tons since they’ve planted new plants a while ago that are starting to bear fruit.

Félix needs a loan because he’s going to start to clear weeds and to fertilize his farm in order to reach the goal he’s set. He will also renovate part of his parcel so that in three years production will be even greater while maintaining the level of quality he has had to date. Félix has worked for many years with loans of various types and trusts that Kiva is a great opportunity he should not pass by. Among the personal goals Félix has is to enlarge his house in order to leave his children a good estate.
