Chhel is a 46-year-old married woman who is responsible for five children, some of whom are employed as garment workers in Phnom Penh. Chhel is in the business of cultivating rice and making bamboo items including baskets and other containers for household use. Chhel’s husband also does the same business. Together, they can earn an average of USD 7.20 each day, from which they are able to cover their daily expenses, especially food.

Chhel wants to gain access to financial service through HKL to help her employed children. The children need help commuting to their workplaces. They currently use public transportation services, which cost a lot, for the everyday back and forth. Chhel would like to borrow a loan of USD 800 to purchase a motorcycle. This will help the children's commute, reduce some family expenses on public transportation and increase their household savings.
