A loan of $775 helped to buy corn seeds and manure and to pay day laborers that will help her till the soil.

Santa's story

Santa is 59 years old, she is married with Manuel and they have three children, who are economically independent and who have already formed their own families. They now live alone in the house they bought 40 years ago.
Santa enjoys very much working in the country and breathing fresh air. She mainly produces corn, barley and broad beans, and she pays rent for the lands where she plants her crops. She says: “In all these years I have not been able to buy my own farming lands, but is it not too late and I will buy my lands now that I don’t have so many expenses”. Her best product is corn and she is now harvesting it; her secret is to dry corn and sell it dried, so that it can be used to prepare different appetizers; and in this way she gets the best selling price in the market.

She is a member of the “Pueblo Nuevo” (New Town) Group, and this is her seventh loan with MFP. She feels at ease working with her Communal Bank, where she receives advice to improve her crops, as everyone is a farmer just like herself.
Santa will use the loan she is requesting to buy corn seeds and manure and to pay day laborers that will help her till the soil.
