A loan of $975 helped to buy 200 sacks of natural fertilizer for her potato crop.

Faustina's story

Faustina, 59, is married to Saturnino and they have eight children, only one of whom still lives at home. She inherited the house they live in from her parents 30 years ago.

"I enjoy working on the land, I feel bad if I don't work, I get sick"; this is how Faustina begins talking about her work in agriculture. She grows corn, potatoes and peas on her own farmland. The long workdays make her very tired since she is not as strong as she used to be, but she is relieved when she receives the payment for her work at harvest time. She says she sells her produce in the city where she goes every season. Now she is working on the corn harvest and, like every good farm woman, she enjoys raising livestock and has pigs, sheep, chickens and guinea pigs.

This is her sixth loan through MFP and with their help she has been able to invest in her crops and improve production. That is why she promises to continue working punctually as she has been doing. She enjoys working in her group.

Faustina will use the loan to buy 200 sacks of fertilizer for her potato crop.
