A loan of $1,150 helped to buy sewing machine.

Jose's story

José, 49, has been married to Rosa for 20 years; they have a daughter, Lisbeth. He bought the house they live in 21 years ago with earnings from his work. He works sewing.

His greatest objective was to buy a double needle sewing machine that will save time in sewing his materials and he’s met it. His other objective is to go into sweatshirt making and to do so needs to buy the machine that will open doors into this specialty.

He works alongside his sisters, wife and nieces making hats and sports caps with advertising on them. He’s been in this business for 11 years and he relates that when he started out he’d take his caps to various street markets throughout the country. In time, wholesalers placed orders and now he only works for these types of firms. “I must strive to finish paying my daughter’s university studies so that she can become a good professional,” he comments.

This is his 5th MFP loan. He promises to continue making punctual payments like he’s done in previous loans. He relates that thanks to the money he can invest in improving his business and he likes working with his group very much because they teach him how to manage his money. José will use the money from this loan to buy a special sewing machine to do the finishing touches on the sweatshirts.
