A loan of $1,500 helped to buy potato seeds (1000 PEN), fertilizers (1200 PEN), insecticides and to pay his staff.

Jose's story

José is 30 years old. His partner is Melissa, 24 years old, with whom he has two children who are 6 and 2 years old. They live in the house of some relatives. He has made a living in agriculture and farm work for 12 years. This experience gives him the security to produce healthy fruits. In his town potatoes are very much in demand thanks to the fertile soils that they have. He mainly plants the “Canchán”, “Yungay” and “Única” varieties because they are the ones that he sells the most and are the ones for which the population searches. For this reason he travels constantly to the city of Lima where he sells his crops wholesale. His wife helps him in this; it is she who makes the contacts for the sales, as she travels when he is in the fields. His goal is to increase his production, for that they will lease more land.

This is his 13th loan with MFP and he mentions that the assistance received was of great help for his enterprise. As on previous occasions, he promises this time as well to be punctual in the payment of his installments. And what he likes about working with the communal bank “Las Águilas” are the monthly savings. He will invest the money from this loan in the purchase of potato seeds (1000 PEN), 1200 (PEN) for fertilizer and with the remainder he will buy insecticides and pay the staff who will work with him.
