Bantoma Plus Group's story

Bernard is a leader of a community bank named Bantoma Plus, which is composed of 10 microentrepreneurs united in solidarity to receive loans from Kiva through IMF HOPE DRC with the goal of developing their businesses.

Bernard, 42, runs a cybercafé. He has been in business since 2011. He is working hard because his ambition is to expand his business in his area. As he wants to develop and diversify his business, he has decided to join one of Hope’s groups. He is planning with the next loan to purchase a copy machine for his business in order to increase his working capital. He makes a profit of about $20 per day. Bernard has succeeded with good strategies to build up permanent customers. He always talks with his customers. He knows them well and by their names, and he never runs out of supplies. He is married and the father of five children whose ages vary between 4 and 19 years old. Four of them attend school.
