A loan of $175 helped to repair the floor where his business is located.

Maria Llaned's story

María is a single mother head of household. She has three children. In order to cover her household expenses she sells fast-food every day seeking to make progress with her children. She’s had the business for about 26 years and thanks to it was able in the beginning to contribute together with her children’s father to provide a good quality of life for their children. But since the father of her children abandoned them, this has been the source of income that makes it possible for her to cover household expenses. She’s been able to move her family forward and her children have been able to have access to a good quality education thanks to this business which is why she continues striving every day so that sales will continue to increase and her children will continue to have better quality of life and better economic opportunities for progress every day.

Because her permit to sell fast-food is for a location that’s very sandy during the rainy season the area around her stand becomes like a swamp and her sales drop off considerably which is why María is seeking a loan to improve the land her food stand is located on so that it won’t become swampy in the rainy season any longer. Her dream is that her children move forward and be able to attend university in the future. In addition, she greatly hopes someday to acquire a house of her own.
