A loan of $4,100 helped a member to increase her stock of fruits and vegetables and to pay for school fees.

Apple Group's story

Neema is 33 years old and married with two children, of whom one goes to school and another is still young. She has had a fruit and vegetable business for about one and a half years now. She is very hard working; she works from 10:00am to 6:00pm daily and is able to make a good monthly profit.

This will be her second loan from Kiva's partner, Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loan to buy more fruits, vegetables and a half bag of onions, as well as to pay for school fees and household expenses. She has paid back that loan successfully. She now wants another loan to increase her stock of fruits and vegetables, and to pay for her children's school fees. Her dream is to expand her business and provide her children a better education.

She will share this loan with her loan group “Apple” which has a total of 11 members who will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
