A loan of $175 helped a member to build a proper toilet for her family's good hygiene.

Sona's Group's story

Living in a thatched roof house in a rural village of the Kandal Stoeng district, Sona is 42 and a married woman. She and her husband have three children, one daughter and two sons, two of whom are still dependent on them. They have struggled to feed their children through farming rice on 2 hectares of farmland and working as a construction worker. Together, they can earn about KHR20,000 per day to meet the family’s needs from the businesses that they have been with for several years.

This is Sona's first group microloan with VisionFund. Sona’s group consists of four members who all are female. She is leading her group to ask for a loan of KHR 160,000 each. Sona will use her portion to build a proper toilet for her family. She hopes that the entire family’s hygiene will improve.
