A loan of $3,175 helped a member to buy a sack of rice, sugar, and some kilos of beans.

Hakika Group's story

Sarafina, who is in her early 20s, is single with one son who goes to school. She has been selling rice, beans, salt, maize flour and sugar for two years now. She works from 7 a.m to 9 p.m and she is able to earn a good monthly profit.

This will be her 6th loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to buy more stock of rice, beans, and sugar, paying household expenses and she has successfully paid back the loan. She hopes for a loan so that she can buy a sack of rice, some kilos of beans and sugar. Her dream is to one day be able to sell rice, beans, sugar, and salt wholesale.

She will share this loan with her loan group, Hakika, with a total of 12 members.The members of the group will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
