A loan of $1,000 helped to buy a power generator for her salon.

Dalal's story

Dalal is a 37-year-old married woman, the mother of four children. She started in the beauty business 19 years ago. In 2005, Dalal opened her own salon and is very happy that she took this step forward, because it helped a lot in improving her family's income to cover most of her children's needs, especially educational.

Dalal's salon is located in the Palestinian camp where she lives, since she's Palestinian. Most of her customers are her area's citizens, relatives and friends. It's hard for her to get employed or to start a business outside the camp because it's very expensive, but she hopes that one day that she will be able to take the step of opening a beauty salon outside. Dalal, just like everyone living in Lebanon, suffers from lack of electricity. Since her business depends on it, she applied for a loan from Kiva's partner Al Majmoua to buy a power generator. Dalal hopes to make her dream of opening her own salon outside the camp come true in the near future.
