Mwaka's story

Mwaka is a married woman in her early 50's who lives with her two children and husband in the community of Samburu in the coastal region of Kenya. She has a total of four children, two are adults and independent while the two that she lives with are still in school. She earns her living selling cereals at the market. Her customers like her due to her high quality cereals and good services.

Mwaka is seeking a loan of 50,000 KES which she needs to buy sacks of maize for sale. With the money she earns she hopes to increase her working capital and continue improving her standard of living. As well, she wishes to fulfill her dream of opening a bigger cereal store.
