A loan of $400 helped to purchase tables and chairs for her customers' comfort. She will also get provisions and ingredients for making the meals and boxes of soda.

Lilia's story

Lilia is 37 years old. She is an enterprising, happy and very friendly woman. Her partner's name is Carlos, and together they have two children: 19-year old Kelvin and 9-year old Dumer. They live in their own home, which took a lot of effort for them to build.

Lilia's business is a restaurant. She offers her customers various regional dishes, like “juanes” (rice wrapped in leaves), and different small plates. Lilia has rented a space for her restaurant. She pays a reasonable rent which allows her a decent profit. She has been in this space for more than a year, and her sister helps take care of the customers. Lilia started out selling juice and then food from a street-side table. Now that she has a place of business, she has learned how to build a clientele. She hopes to purchase the space, as it is located in a good area.

This is Lilia's 12th loan with MFP, and so she expects to meet her objectives. She also says that she feels good about her communal bank. She has permanent support from the other members and from her adviser.

With the sum that she has requested of 1000 nuevos soles, ($400 USD), Lilia will invest in the purchase of tables and chairs for her customers' comfort. She will also get provisions and ingredients for making the meals and boxes of soda.
