A loan of $550 helped a member to buy fabrics.

19 De Julio Group's story

The communal association "19 de Julio" will begin the first cycle of Pro Mujer, as a part of the Focal Center of Los Andes. It has 6 members and it is directed by a board presided by Hilda. The businesses that the members of the communal association carry out are varied: knitting sweaters, sewing sweatpants, sewing aprons. The loan they will get will benefit small micro-entrepreneurs, including Hilda. She says it's the first time she is a member of Pro Mujer, and entered through an invitation of a promoter who went by her house to invite her. Currently she has a business of sewing aguayos (a Bolivian piece of cloth used for adornment). She says she started this business out of her own initiative. The loan she asking for now, is to increase her capital (buying fabrics), which she will acquire in the distributing stores and after producing them, she will sell them in the fairs of the city El Alto. This work allows her to generate resources to support her family, since she is married and has two children.
