A loan of $400 helped to purchase 20 small sheep.

Mariana's story

Mariana is 29 years old and lives in the house she bought 12 years ago, together with her husband Jony and their four small children. Almost 2 years ago, she began her journey in agriculture. Since she was a child, she has lived in the country and helped her parents take care of the earth, so this work isn't difficult for her. Her fields are located in a fertile area that provides a variety of good quality produce. Her crops consist of corn, potatos, peas, and other vegetables that she tends, fertilizes and harvests, working everyday from the early hours of the morning until dusk. "When night arrives, we feel very tired, but we know that in the harvest, we will see the results of our efforts," she mentions. Now she has begun to enter into the purchase and sale of sheep and pigs, so she can obtain extra money for her home. She belongs to the community bank “Puntaman puririsum Sachamarca”, which means "We walk forward Sachamarca." This is her third loan with MFP and she enjoys the work that she does with her group. In each meeting, she learns new ideas for her plants, since all help and cooperate with each other. For that, she promises to be punctual with her payments. Mariana will invest the money from this loan in the purchase of 20 small sheep.
